WHAT EXACTLY IS THE SPC?
The SPC is the Symphonic Pops Consortium. A division of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the SPC creates theatrical pops programs that are then available for other orchestras providing a superior quality artistic program for all while amortizing costs. The concert package includes the scores and orchestral parts, guest artists, road/company manager, costumes, technical support and even scenic elements.

HOW MUCH DOES AN SPC CONCERT COST?
It varies on which concert and how many performances.  An average fee for a triple (3 performances) would range from $22,000-$35,000 + hotel and coach air.   The original cost of producing the concerts can easily exceed $100,000.  The most recent addition to the line-up, Pops Goes Vegas!, cost approximately $108,000 to conceive, create and produce.  Almost half of that cost is two hours of new arrangements and orchestrations.

I WAS QUOTED $32K FOR A TRIPLE.  WHY IS THERE ALMOST NO ROOM FOR NEGOTATION?
The ISO does not 'profit' in the traditional sense of the word by booking the SPC concerts.  The ISO/SPC only receives between $2,000 -$4,000 for each weekend engagement of the program that goes back to help offset the original $100,000+ original cost of creating the concert.


DOES MAESTRO JACK EVERLY CONDUCT ALL OF THE PERFORMANCES?
Jack is indeed the Music Director of the SPC as well as the Principal Pops Conductor for Indianapolis, Baltimore and the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Canada.  His schedule is often booked several years in advance.  He maintains a ‘first right of refusal’ since he created the concerts, however, when he is not available or in certain instances (i.e. the music director of the presenting orchestra would like to conduct the concert) other arrangements have been made with great success.


DOES THE SPC/INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA EVER RENT OR LOAN OUT ANY OF ITS ORCHESTRA CHARTS?  
No, we do not.
 

ARE THERE RECORDINGS AVAILABLE OF ANY OF THE CONCERTS?
At this time there is no recording contract.  However, if you would like to record - then by all means, call us!    You can, however, find excerpts from some of the concerts on the website.  Peter Throm can also provide you with sample excerpts if you are interested in booking a concert.
